Medallion Relief Cut Ships

Wall Hanging Displays

14th Century North Sea Merchantmen Two of the Medallion Series ship designs are relief cut wall hangings of a 13th Century Mediterranean Merchantmen and a 14th Century North Sea Merchantmen. These displays are one-half side view profiles of oak ship hulls that are trimmed out in purpleheart, padauk, walnut and/or mahogany. Masts, etc., and rigging are made from hardwood dowels and brass rods. The ship models are contained within ready-to-hang solid oak frames measuring 15-1/2" tall, by 15-/2" wide, by 2-1/2" deep. Each wall hanging unit, of each design, were slightly varied from one to the next by the use of different types of wood and/or by variations in sail configurations. Each ship comes with one polished brass title plate that notes the type of ship represented, the date (year) the model was made, and the artist's name. The underside of each ship display bass is signed and numbered by the artist.

Table/Shelf Displays

16th Century Galleon There are six different types of Medallion Series ships designed and built by the artist for display on table tops and shelves: a 13th Century Ship of the Cinque Ports, a 13th Century Mediterranean Merchantmen, a 14th Century Mediterranean Merchantmen, a 15th Century Carrack, a 3rd Century Roman Merchantmen, and a 16th Century Galleon. Medallion Series ship model hulls are made of oak and trimmed out in purpleheart, paduak, walnut, dubongo, and/or mahogany. Masts, etc., and rigging are made from hardwood dowels and brass rods. SINCE 2008, ALL MEDALLION SHIPS WERE MADE WITH FULLY BILLOWED, ANTIQUED (HEAT TREATED) COPPER SAILS. No ship of any design was made exactly the same as others. Each ship design type varies slightly from one to the next by the use of different types and amounts of hardwood trim, and by mast/yardarm sizes. Each ship comes with one polished brass title plate that notes the type of ship represented, the date (year) the model was made, and the artist's name. The underside of each ship base is signed and numbered by the artist. These ships vary in size depending upon design type. They are approximately 14 to 28 inches long; by 14 to 31 inches tall; by up to 11 inches wide.
